LeftLion Magazine - Issue 36 August - September 2010
Setting up an Indian restaurant in this town is tough
particularly if you opt to do so on Maid Marian Way, a stone’s
throw from 4550 Miles From Delhi. Laguna and cutlery tosser
Chris Tarrant’s fave, MemSaab. But two years ago the Arnand
family did just that, after establishing similar eateries in
Wembley, Leicester, Ilford and Middlesex. Spread over two
floors, Cumin is intimate yet spacious, feeling modern without forgetting its Indian heritage, with swathes of reds and darks, solid furnishings and tastefully muted wallpaper.

Singh is ‘The Cumin’ King
Recently The Cumin Restaurant had the pleasure of catering for top Bollywood stars whilst filming the forthcoming cricket inspired Patiala House directed by Nikhil Advani.
The stars and the crew were checked into the Jurys Inn, and after a hard day’s work of filming all they needed was a good home cooked Indian meal. |
 |
Jurys Inn had called The Cumin as we are the only Indian Restaurant in Nottingham that cooks with a true authentic Punjabi palette. We used the freshest ingredients and traditional cooking methods to cater on site for the 90 cast and crew.
The Movie which is based around the ICC twenty 20 World cup features Singh is king superstar Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia and is due to premiere this November in Mumbai. The Scenes are being shot in India and England’s Trent Bridge, Lords and the Oval. The five day shooting took place at the cricket ground which was crowded with Bollywood stars and their individual hair & make up teams, technicians, equipment, film extras, and International cricketers such as Nassar Hussain.
Our quality of food and service was greatly appreciated by Akshay Kumar who by the way arrived to Trent Bridge every day by helicopter.
The feedback we had from the co-stars and their assisting crew was rewarding, they consistently expressed they sincere gratitude for a taste of home, served on a plate to them in the middle of England.
